Carrie adds beloved horror actor Matthew Lillard to the cast. Deadline reports that the Scream star is set to board another massive franchise in the same genre. Lillard has been busy as of late. He’s in Cross over at MGM and will play a role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. It’s been a groundswell moment for horror fans as the genre has an extended moment in the center of the universe with Sinners. The Carrie series already carries a bunch of intrigue.

Mike Flanagan also gets to reunite with Lillard. (The duo previously worked together on The Life of Chuck.) Summer H. Howell will play Carrie in the new adaptation. Eight episodes on the way in short order over at Prime Video.

Carrie is just the lasted adaptation of the 1974 novel. Horror fans absolutely adore the Brian De Palma movie from 1976. It’s going to be interesting to see how Flanagan’s interpretation of the story stands out against so many cinematic adaptations. There are also numerous works that have been inspired by Carrie as of late as well. Only time will tell, but the cast and creative team are looking more than solid to start out!

Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios is excited for fans to see the new project. “Carrie is an iconic story that has withstood the test of time with continued cultural relevance,” he explains. “With Mike Flanagan at the helm and the accomplished team assembled including executive producer Trevor Macy this provocative series is sure to captivate our global customers.”
