With a little more than a week to go for the final installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise ever, first reactions are finally rolling in from early screenings. To say this is a huge moment is an understatement–starting from 1996, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt has been with us for nearly thirty years. To some, this cast of characters feels like family, and it’s always hard to say goodbye to family, even when you know you have to.

Mission: Impossible is also a movie franchise that is for the movies. Tom Cruise has always been a vocal champion of keeping the industry going through original content and hard work, and it was never more apparent than in the M:I movies. It is hard to deny the heart and soul apparent in each film, and it seems like Final Reckoning isn’t lacking in that department. It’s bigger, it’s louder, and it’s going to go out with the bang this franchise deserves. Some have even called it a love letter to the franchise, which has us ready to shed at least a tear or two once our hearts have stopped pounding and our adrenaline has stopped rushing.

Go see it big and loud, people are repeating, and I have to say, that is the best way to experience any of these films. Each one has only gotten bigger and better, and while none have been flawless, the love and care for the genre has always been there. It’s something we see too little of nowadays in newer films.

While we wait to follow and trust Ethan one final time on May 23, 2025, let’s take a look at some of the first reactions that have us more excited than Tom Cruise before a major stunt.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Reactions

Our Junior Felix says it best: “He’s the last of a dying breed and epic films like this are why we go to the movies.”
