SMURFS revealed a brand-new video from Rihanna as Smurfette. The international icon plays the character in this summer’s big animated movie. She’s singing “Friend of Mine”, a new single from SMURFS in the clip. You can check it out right here down below. Rihanna as Smurfette is a wild sentence to type. The movie’s soundtrack is stacked with star power from names like DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Subhi and Natania. The group ensemble track “Higher Love” from DESI TRILL was the first big song from SMURFS. Now, it’s time for Rihanna to take center stage with her all-star castmates. Tyla will perform a song on the soundtrack!
Here’s how the studio describes SMURFS: “When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.”

SMURFS is a big project for everyone involved. Peyo Company’s CCO Nele De Wilde is psyched for fans to see the brand-new movie. “We are delighted to be working with Paramount Animation on an all-new theatrical production, The Smurfs Movie. Paramount pulled together a dream team of filmmakers led by the smurftastic director, Chris Miller, co-director Matt Landon, and producers Ryan Harris, Rihanna, Laurence “jay” Brown, and Tyran “ty-ty” Smith.”
She continues, “This fresh take on the beloved Smurfs will see them go on an interdimensional adventure to discover the power within and answer the universal question: ‘What is a Smurf?’ We’re thrilled that Rihanna is on board to voice Smurfette and write, produce, and perform original songs for the film.”
