Vampire Hunter D is perhaps the epitome of cult horror in the anime department. With its lavish art and a story that combines elements of gothic horror and science fantasy, it’s definitely a treat to watch for a bit of a scare. Clearly, author Hideyuki Kikuchi was onto something when he wrote the original novels that would become this anime film. All in spite of the fact that said anime film first aired all the way back in 1985, with the novels being only two years older.
And soon, you too will be able to experience this cult horror anime film from the comforts of home. HIDIVE and Shudder are proud to announce that Vampire Hunter D will soon be premiering simultaneously on their respective streaming platforms. How soon, you might ask? Well, the anime film will be available to stream starting on May 30, 2025. Alas, both HIDIVE and Shudder require a paid subscription to view their content, so you will need to open up your wallet to watch the anime film there.
As a plus though, HIDIVE and Shudder will also stream the Vampire Hunter D OVA that Sentai Filmworks digitally remastered back in 2015. That steaming will also take place on May 30, and you will also need a HIDIVE or Shudder subscription to watch it.
