The Black Phone was one of the best and biggest horror hits of 2022. Now, The Grabber returns for revenge with the release of The Black Phone 2.

The new film follows up on the first with plenty of the cast and crew returning. Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora return for the film’s sequel, that will be directed by Scott Derrickson and is written by C. Robert Cargill and Derrickson.

The film will be produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse, Scott Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill. Joe Hill and Ryan Turek are executive producer. Universal and Blumhouse will present the Crooked Highway Production.

The Black Phone 2 releases in theaters on October 17th, 2025.

Here’s what we had to say about The Black Phone in our 93% review.

Ethan Hawke is utterly terrifying and the masks he wears are going to end up being iconic. The story is a throwback that doesn’t feel like it’s trying to cash in on the current nostalgic horror trends though. A horror flick not giving too much information away about its villain is refreshing and The Black Phone is satisfying through and through.
