The Bad Guys 2 is all set to become the sequel 2022’s The Bad Guys. Both are based off of a series of children’s novels of the same name by Aaron Blabey, and both are by Dreamworks Animation: the same studio that brought us Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon. Sadly, The Bad Guys franchise isn’t nearly as well-known as those other DreamWorks staples. A lot of it has to do with the fact that both production and its planned release occurred during a certain Covid pandemic. Yeah, that alone caused the theatrical release to see delay after delay from its initial planned theatrical debut date of September 17, 2021, until it finally had its long-tortured red carpet premiere on April 12, 2022.
Thus, it’s quite surprising to see that film get a sequel. Or perhaps not, considering the level of work DreamWorks put into both films. In fact, that’s the point of today’s story. Dreamworks Animation is proud to hype up the impending theatrical debut of The Bad Guys 2 with a “Behind the Scenes – The Mission” video. It’s basically one big parody of those behind-the-scenes featurette videos, all entirely animated as if it was dead serious. How hilariously serious is it? Well, you can see for yourself on YouTube, or below:

Honestly, this “behind-the-scenes” featurette feels hilariously nostalgic for me. It reminds me of those old “bloopers” that Disney used to like doing for their animated films. The ones where the blooper pretends that the animated characters are actors in a movie. It’s that double whammy of nostalgia and hilarious parody that’s making me give a thumbs-up to this video, and making my interest rise ever so slightly.
What did you think of this “behind-the-scenes” parody video for The Bad Guys 2? Was this also a big dose of nostalgia for you older readers? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
