Mechanical Marie is one odd love story. The creator/mangaka Aki Akimoto has written quite a unique romantic comedy manga with this story of a girl pretending to be a robot maid for a misanthropic young heir. It’s a story that has become surprisingly popular despite the manga series being only six volumes long. In fact, it has become so popular that Akimoto is already working on a sequel manga series that will start running in LaLa magazine in Japan on April 24, 2025.
It’s that popularity that’s probably why the upcoming anime is getting so much attention. Japanese publishing company Pony Canyon is proud to announce that Mechanical Marie will get an anime adaptation from studios Zero-G and Liber (The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague) sometime in Fall 2025. The announcement comes with a brand new teaser trailer, which you can watch on YouTube and below:
Not only that, but we also have some character visuals of Mechanical Marie to go with the voice cast announcement. To start, we have Nao Toyama as the titular Marie:

And Haruki Ishiya as Arthur:

We even have a special message from the creator of Mechanical Marie themself: Aki Akimoto. You can read what they has to say on the subject below:
“Mechanical Marie” is getting an anime! It’s all thanks to the many people who supported
this project and to the readers who loved it.
I’m truly excited to see Marie and the rest of the characters come to life with voices and
animation.
I can’t thank the anime staff enough. I hope those who’ve read the original and
newcomers alike will enjoy this anime!
Mechanical Marie Getting Anime Adaptation in Fall 2025

Admittedly, this anime adaptation of Mechanical Marie came at me right out of the blue. I hadn’t even heard of this manga or anime before until now. And yet, now that I have, it looks like quite a unique romcom anime. Largely because the main female character is actually the badass member of the duo. She is a martial artist who was hired to protect him, after all. Mayhaps this will even flip the usual male-female dynamic on its head? Well, we can only hope that might be the case. We can also only hope that they will actually tell us which streaming platform is going to stream this anime sometime soon.
What do you all think? Are you excited to watch Mechanical Marie on whatever streaming platform is going to stream it? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
