You can tell just from the title of Witch Watch Ep. 6 “Under the Lovers’ Tree” that it’s going to be a very romance-centric episode. In fact, this is exactly the case, just with some ridiculous levels of silly magic antics tossed in. However, there is some serious romance going on at the same time that ends up making this episode quite heartfelt in spite of the silliness.

Witch Watch Ep. 6 “Under the Lovers’ Tree”: Synopsis
Alas, Witch Watch only recently began airing a couple weeks ago. In fact, Witch Watch Ep. 6 “Under the Lovers’ Tree” only just made its debut three days ago as of this writing. Thus, we shall be giving you the official synopsis of this episode from Crunchyroll to tease the story without too many spoilers below:
“Nico is in panic mode because Morihito has gotten quite popular at school. Even Kanshi is able to recognize Nico’s feelings for Morihito, but Morihito remains as clueless as ever. However, Nico hears about a famous Lovers’ Tree at Mt. Futatsu, where her class will be going on a field trip soon. According to the rumor, if two people eat lunch together under that tree, they’ll become a couple. Kanshi pressures Nico to tell Morihito about her feelings.”
Witch Watch Ep. 6 “Under the Lovers’ Tree”: The Good

As always with this anime, it’s the story that’s the best part about Witch Watch Ep. 6 “Under the Lovers’ Tree”. It’s all just a very well-written romantic comedy, with a very strong emphasis on the comedy part. Normally, this would detract from the seriousness of the romance. However, I feel that in this case, the comedy actually enhances the romance. The comedy forms the sweet milk chocolate portion of the story, while the heartfelt emotions of the romance is the rich dark chocolate. Both of them enhance each other just like those chocolates that mix both.
And interestingly, this episode even features some pretty good animation. Bibury Animation Studios have apparently upped their game for this episode, boosting the overall quality of the animation just a bit. Granted, it’s still not great, but it is a noticeable increase over the earlier episodes. In fact, there seems to be a trend of generally higher quality animation starting from Ep. 5. We will have to see if this trend continues into future episodes.
Witch Watch Ep. 6 “Under the Lovers’ Tree”: The Bad

Alas, the animation quality of Witch Watch Ep. 6 “Under the Lovers’ Tree” still has some noticeable levels of inconsistency. It’s the most noticeable when you’re looking at people who are a good distance away from the camera. Normally, I can forgive a studio for lowering the animation quality for a faraway person. However, a few of the shots have the people look…especially bad. They just looked like bald, blocky Minecraft people at best. It’s absolutely hilarious, yes, but I’m not sure if this was intentional or not. Not complaining too much, but it is noticeable.
As for the blood and action, well, there isn’t any in this episode. Heck, in this anime in general. It’s just not that kind of an anime. If you want bloody action, then might I suggest giving Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kaiju No. 8, DDDD, DAN DA DAN, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II, Zenshu, Solo Leveling, and/or Black Butler a watch? Those anime should contain enough action and/or blood to satisfy your inner action junkie.
