Over two decades later, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back and bodyswapping. (Just not with each other this time.) Disney released the official trailer for Freakier Friday today.
The sequel to the much-loved 2003 flick sees Curtis and Lohan reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.
Check out the trailer for Freakier Friday below.
The trailer reveals much more about the story and look of this legacy sequel. We learn that Anna is about to get married, but her daughter and her fiance’s daughter aren’t exactly excited about that prospect. In fact, the body-swap encourages them to initiate a sort of reverse-Parent Trap plot; they decide to sabotage the upcoming nuptials by reuniting Anna with her first love Jake (Chad Michael Murray).
In addition to outlining this part of the plot, the Freakier Friday trailer gives eager fans a good look at the vibe of the movie. It seems to combine some nostalgic Easter Eggs as well as nods to the new; Freaky Friday fans will no doubt recognize “Take Me Away” playing in the trailer, which also features recent Chappell Roan hit “HOT TO GO”. Also, does anyone else think some of these looks for Lohan are giving Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen?
Beyond the return of Curtis, Lohan, and Murray, the film stars Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Rosalind Chao, Chad, Vanessa Bayer, and Mark Harmon.

Freakier Friday premieres in theaters August 8. Until then, check back to THS for more updates.
