The Evil Dead franchise is going in a much different direction than other horror franchises have. Instead of just mindlessly making sequels left and right, they’re exploring how the franchise works and what makes it tick. The newest film Evil Dead Burn has a new release date, July 24th, 2026. The film comes from Sébastien Vaniček, who will direct and co-wrote the script with Florent Bernard. Here’s what Vaniček had to say about the film to Konbini.
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”
There’s more Evil Dead news though, it’ll also star Dune: Part Two actress Souheila Yacoub. Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema also confirmed that they’ve hired Francis Galluppi to make a new Evil Dead film, which doesn’t have a title yet.
This follows the new trajectory for the franchise with making new stories in the universe with up-and-coming filmmakers. It’s seen efforts like 2013’s Evil Dead from Fede Alvarez and the excellent 2023 Evil Dead Rise from Lee Cronin.
Who Are Sébastien Vaniček And Souheila Yacoub?

Sébastien Vaniček has one feature directorial credit to his name for 2023’s Infested. That movie saw residents of a rundown French apartment do battle with deadly, rapidly reproducing spiders. So, something at least a bit similar to the plot of Evil Dead Rise, except you swap out spiders for deadites. So he’s got some horror chops. You can watch that film on Shudder right now.
Souheila Yacoub is a Swiss actress whose credits include Climax, Making Of, and Dune: Part Two. She’s in for quite the experience if the previous two Evil Dead movies are any indication.
