Prime Video has officially dropped the full-length trailer for its highly anticipated mystery thriller series We Were Liars, based on the best-selling novel by E. Lockhart. The eight-episode adaptation will premiere globally on June 18, 2025, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.

Set on a stunning private island off the coast of New England, We Were Liars follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman, a teenage girl from a prestigious and wealthy American family. Every summer, Cadence reunites with her close-knit group of friends and cousins—collectively known as “the Liars”—for what should be idyllic months of sun, swimming, and freedom. But beneath the surface of privilege and perfection lies a dark secret. After a mysterious accident leaves Cadence with memory loss and lingering pain, she returns to the island determined to uncover the truth. What really happened that summer? And why does everyone she loves seem to be hiding something?

The series stars Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence, with Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis. Supporting cast includes Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, The Vampire Diaries’ Candice King, iZombie’s Rahul Kohli, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair, the family patriarch.

We Were Liars is written and executive produced by showrunners Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, Legacies) and Carina Adly MacKenzie (Roswell, New Mexico, The Originals). Additional executive producers include Emily Cummins, Brett Matthews, Pascal Verschooris, and E. Lockhart, author of the original novel. The series is a production of Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amazon MGM Studios.
