Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* is out now in theaters. Like every other Marvel movie, it has a post-credits scene! It actually has a mid-credits and a post-credits scene. For those who haven’t seen it, there are minor spoilers for Thunderbolts* ahead, so tread cautiously. Sitting down with our friends at Phase Hero/Brandon Davis, the director of Thunderbolts* Jake Schreier, had some interesting information regarding that post-credits scene.
SPOILERS FOR THUNDERBOLTS* AHEAD

Here’s what Jake Schreier had to say.
“That comes from the set of another movie that is in production. There is only really one production left.
I think what we found in making the movie was where we maybe initially expected there would be cheers for them being introduced as The New Avengers. People needed a minute to process it. So, a lot of work in post and stuff that we picked up went into designing a credits sequence that acknowledges that feeling of uncertainty with all these news articles being like, ‘No way!’ But then, eventually, ‘Oh, maybe, this could work?’ and then the cereal aisle thing which is fun. That’s the comedy side of it that we did.
But then I think it felt like you wanted the purchase of… let’s actually see them in this context. It’s so nice to… the way the Russo’s make movies is such a heart, the DNA of this company, and what those movies are gonna be and to get to see our characters actually within that context, not the way I would make it but the way the way that movie is actually gonna get made going forward, felt like really seeing the evolution of where this could go. And then, yeah, it’s so fun to see little hints of how all the stories are gonna interconnect and that’s something that people have been asking for, is for these post-credits scenes to mean something in the way they always used to. So, it felt really fun to bring all of that together.
I got to go, I was there when they filmed it and it was really fun to just watch these characters you worked with on this giant set in London.”

So that all eliminates that the scene was shot during The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which means it was during pre-production of Avengers: Doomsday, which recently began production on Monday.
We had very good things to say about Thunderbolts* in our 93% review. Here’s a snippet.
Much will be said about what Thunderbolts* leads to, but don’t breeze past the movie that Jake Scheier and Co. have created here. Thunderbolts* is about as relatable as superhero movies come. This team of losers, misfits, and outcasts should easily grab you by the heart for one of Marvel’s best films in a while. The action is on point, but the emotion is where it hits hardest. As someone who has dealt with and continually deals with depression and inadequacy, Thunderbolts* really hit hard. Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman really take this movie to a new level emotionally.
Thunderbolts* is out in theaters right now and Marvel Studios has The Fantastic Four: First Steps coming out on July 25th, 2025.
