Mckenna Grace Joins Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

Fresh off yesterday’s casting of Haymitch and Lenore, Lionsgate revealed yet another key star of Sunrise on the Reaping. Mckenna Grace will also join the cast of the upcoming Hunger Games feature.

Grace will play Maysilee Donner, Haymitch’s fellow District 12 Tribute. She joins previously announced cast members Joseph Zada and Whitney Peak, who will play Haymitch Abernathy and Lenore Dove Baird respectively.

Sunrise on the Reaping revisits the world of Panem twenty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games. The story starts on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell – Haymitch’s games.

The novel by Suzanne Collins released just last month on March 18. In its first week of release, the novel sold over 1.2 million copies in the US alone.

Francis Lawrence will direct the feature adaptation from a screenplay by Billy Ray.

Grace is one of Hollywood’s most prolific young actors. She received an Emmy nomination for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale; her other TV credits include Designated Survivor, Young Sheldon, and The Haunting of Hill House. Grace also starred in the recent Ghostbusters features Afterlife and Frozen Empire, and will appear in Scream 7 as well as the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel

Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will premiere in theaters November 20, 2026.
