Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a title that will bring tears of nostalgia to many of our older readers. After all, a lot of us watched the show on Fox Kids when it premiered there in August 28, 1993. That and the combination of martial arts, special effects, and explosions typical of the Super Sentai series basically cemented the show into our childhoods.

Now if only this was indeed just a series of clips.

Interestingly, it appears that Hasbro knows this very well, and yet also want to expand some awareness of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to the younger audiences. Hasbro is proud to announce a brand new short-form series called Mighty Morphin Minute. It’s a new miniseries that essentially consist of the best clips of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, each just a minute long, as the title implies. The first episode is currently up on the Power Rangers Official YouTube Channel. It won’t be the last though. New episodes will air twice a week until December 9, 2025. If you want more of a hint as to what this miniseries is all about, then you can read the official synopsis below:

“After 10,000 years of imprisonment, the evil sorceress Rita Repulsa and her loyal minions are freed when astronauts on a routine mission in space accidentally open her dumpster prison on the Moon. Filled with rage, Rita decides to conquer the nearest planet: Earth. But her arch nemesis –the heroic sage Zordon–has been patiently waiting in preparation for this day. With the assistance of his wisecracking robotic sidekick Alpha 5, Zordon recruits a team of five ‘teenagers with attitude’ –Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Billy, and Trini-to receive superpowers beyond their wildest dreams and defend the Earth as the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Aided by giant robotic vehicles modeled after dinosaurs called Zords, the Power Rangers fight back the evil alien hordes of Rita Repulsa.”

RIP, Machiko Soga. You have more than earned it by playing Rita Repulsa.

Honestly, this miniseries could have some potential. It could simultaneously give the older readers a good deal of nostalgia, while also introducing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to a new generation. Now if only they just stuck with the clips. The first episode would’ve been better had they been content with raw clips. Instead, we have a narrator voicing over everything? I feel like this isn’t the best way to introduce Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. There’s a reason why the original show didn’t have that narrator voicing over everyone. This may be a matter of taste though. Your mileage may vary here.
