Star Wars Day may have ended yesterday, but it gave us a gift that will keep going. Yesterday, for those that may not know, Disney+ released Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld. Following Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire, this series tells the stories of Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. Here is my non-spoiler review of this six-episode series.

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld
Enter the galaxy’s dangerous underworld in this 6-episode journey through the experiences of two iconic villains. Former assassin and bounty hunter Asajj Ventress is given a new chance at life and must go on the run with an unexpected new ally, while outlaw Cad Bane faces his past when he confronts an old friend, now a Marshal on the opposite side of the law.

Dave Filoni created the series and is the supervising director. He is also an executive producer along with Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck. Josh Rimes serves as co-executive producer, Alex Spotswood is the senior producer, and Matt Michnovetz is the writer.
The talented voice cast includes Nika Futterman, Corey Burton, Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez.
Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld – The Review
Thanks again for checking out one of my Nerdy Vet reviews. When doing my reviews, I follow what I call the Three Ss: Short, Simple, and Soiler Free. So, without further waiting, here are my thoughts on this series.
WOW! I mean, what else can I say? Once again, Dave Filoni and his team knocked it out of the park. These stories were just what we needed. The first three episodes in the series kicked off with the story of Asajj Ventress. For those wondering, yes, we do get the answer of how she returned, but that is all I will say. It was an interesting story seeing how she handled her second chance at life. Also, it was kind of heartbreaking to see what she had to give up to have it.

We finish off the last three episodes with the story of Cad Bane. This might be my favorite of all the Tales of stories. One of the main reasons I love this story is the straight-up Spaghetti Western feel of it all. We see how Cad Bane became the ruthless Bounty Hunter he is Today. And trust me when I say “ruthless,” that might be an understatement. We always thought of Boba Fett being one of the most feared Bounty Hunters. Well, after you watch this, you just might put Cad Bane in that number one spot.
After watching all three series again, I have them in this order:
- Tales of the Jedi
- Tales of the Underworld
- Tales of the Empire
Even though I have Tales of the Jedi number 1, the Cad Bane story, I feel is the best individual story of them all. But no matter how you rank them, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld is a must-watch for any Star Wars fan.
