The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first Star Wars project in theaters in over six years is having a huge panel at Star Wars Celebration 2025. Join us as we go through the panel and any footage that’s being shown off LIVE.
To kick it off, Dave Filoni came out to address the crowd. R2-D2 and C3PO introduced Filoni, who then introduced Kathleen Kennedy to the stage.

They talked about the goings-on in the Star Wars universe including confirming that Taika Waititi’s movie was still on the slate.
Next up was Shawn Levy coming out to talk about his upcoming movie with Ryan Gosling starring.

Star Wars films by James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi and a new trilogy by Simon Kinberg are in ongoing development.
“We’ve been developing a long time,” Kathleen about Shawn Levy.
“It was wide open to what it would be.” -Levy “This is no longer a Star Wars movie in development. This is a Star Wars movie we’re making this fall.”
“I can’t say much about it … stand alone adventure that takes place after the events of episode 9.” – Levy
Ryan Gosling then took the stage to talk about the film.

“It’s filled with so much heart and adventure.” – Gosling
They made sure to emphasize that this was a standalone film.
It releases exclusively in theatres May 28, 2027.
They showed off the title of the new movie, it is now known as Star Wars: Starfighter.
Next up is The Mandalorian & Grogu!

They showed the crowd some photos from the set of the film. Then Sigourney Weaver and Pedro Pascal joined the stage to talk about their roles in the film.

They then showed off footage to the crowd from The Mandalorian & Grogu.
The new footage showed off Din busting into an Imperial snowbase with Snowtroopers. They look like the cool classic versions from Empire Strikes Back. Then he blows out the neck of an AT-AT and floats down with Grogu. The next scene is him and Grogu playing a game at a table. Lots of footage of him walking and Grogu being cute. Big crowd favorite from a lot of the footage shown.
The Mandalorian & Grogu has a release date of May 22nd, 2026. It’ll be the first Star Wars film to release in theaters since Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker back in 2019. Jon Favreau is on board to direct the film, which is a spinoff from The Mandalorian.
It’s part of a new theatrical Star Wars slate at Lucasfilm that includes a movie about the beginnings of the force from James Mangold, a new film from Shawn Levy starring Ryan Gosling, and a Rey Skywalker film from writer Simon Kinberg.
