She the People is coming to Netflix this summer. Tyler Perry presents a political comedy exclusively for the streamer. Viewers can look forward to Terri J. Vaughn as Antoinette Dunkerson. A first term Lieutenant Governor that has a lot to learn on the job after winning an election.

In true Netflix house style, She the People will release Part 1 on May 22 and Part 2 on August 14. That’s eight episodes in a few weeks and eight episodes later in the summer. Tyler Perry Studios and Netflix dropped a couple of images from the upcoming series.

Netflix describes the new show: “Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson runs a successful campaign and now must figure out how to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor while attempting to keep her family in line now that they’re all in the public eye.”

She the People’s cast sees Tyler Perry going to his trusted bench of actors. Familiar faces like Terri J. Vaughn (Daddy’s Little Girls) and Jo Marie Payton (Meet the Browns) are here. Jade Novah (That’s My Jam), Drew Olivia Tillman (This Is Us), Tré Boyd (House of Payne), and Dyon Brooks (A Naughty Christmess Story) join the new show.
